Yogesh Chabria
1. Kindly tell your fans about yourself and your book in slight detail.

Yogesh Chabria: As a young boy, we couldn’t even afford taking the auto rickshaw and that’s one of the reasons I started selling toys when I was 5 years old. I feel super lucky I was not born rich because I realized I have something even more powerful that can enable me to achieve anything – that is my mind and my own inner power. Since then I have faced lots of challenges, been depressed and lonely, but all that changed once I decided to take action and control of my life.

Succeed The Happionaire Way (STHW) is a book like no other, because it doesn’t tell anyone what to do. Instead it helps and inspires them to discover their own goals and dreams and make them a reality. It’s about overcoming your own inner fears and achieving whatever you desire. It is about discovering your own true inner potential – which I believe is truly limitless.

2. You have achieved immense success at such a young age. What has been your inspiration through this journey?

Yogesh Chabria: My biggest inspiration has been the teachings of the Geeta and Krishna. He tells me to take action without fear and focus on my goals. When you overcome fear and take action – something special happens. I say this not in a religious way, but in a very spiritual and practical way which we can all apply in our day to day life.

I also get inspired by everyone around me, my wife, my son, my parents, my sister, my grandparents, nature. Even a spider and crow inspire me – they work so innovatively and creatively to achieve their goals of obtaining food and surviving.

3. The HAPPIONAIRE series has created quite the stir. Can you share some of your experiences while writing such wonderful books and holding seminars for the same?

Yogesh Chabria: My writings are all based on my personal real world experiences. There are so many experiences. Each seminar leads to me meeting at least 500 to 1000 people, thus it isn’t hard to find unique experiences.

Once a gentleman introduced me to his wife and shared how his relationship with her, which had become extremely painful, was completely rejuvenated after practicing the principles of Happionaire’s Personal Mastery (HPM™).

A mother introduced me to her daughter, who had earlier been called a problem child by all teachers at school, but was completely transformed and had now become a star athlete and a great student by using the techniques of tapping into Deep Inner Goals (DIG™) and following the Happionaire’s One Page Execution (HOPE)™ Plan.

A salesman told me how he was able to increase his income by over 600% in barely five months, while an entrepreneur was able to increase his companies’ revenues by over Rs. 50 crores in 12 months by applying the strategies of SALES (Smile And Love Everyone Sincerely)™ Mastery, Influence and Persuasion.

4. What were the challenges (if any) that you faced while writing your books?
Succeed The Happionaire Way
Yogesh Chabria: Challenges are a part of life – without a challenge life becomes boring. For my latest book Succeed The Happionaire Way, the biggest challenge was time, because during the days I was very busy with lots of my Happionaire Seminars. I am lucky to have been blessed with a newborn son, Samarvir, while writing STHW as he ensured I didn’t get much sleep at night. I used this time at night to write STHW!

5. You have been graciously providing people with some excellent advice through your books. What has been the best advice that you ever received?

Yogesh Chabria: Never settle for a lesser goal. No goal is impossible to achieve if you truly dream it and work towards it. Don’t let anyone tell you what is not possible for you.

6. Can tell your fans about the book(s) that changed your life.

Yogesh Chabria: Of course, the first one is the Gita. Biographies of people Steve Jobs and Mahatma Gandhi has also impacted my life a lot. I have learnt the power of sales, marketing and having belief in one’s own ideas. I also realized that is important to give back to people around you, when you give back you attract a lot more!

7. By your personal standards how would you define and measure success?

Yogesh Chabria: If you are happy doing what you are doing at every level – personal, mental, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual – then I believe you are successful. If you have complete peace of mind and have overcome doubt, lack of confidence and fear, than I believe you are successful. Each one of us has to be true to our own definition of success.

8. And the last question that all your fans eagerly wish to know what can they expect in the future (perhaps another mind blowing masterpiece)?

Yogesh Chabria: Succeed The Happionaire Way is a book which I believe will have the maximum impact. I would want it to bring real change in the lives of even more people. With a seminar, we can reach maybe 5000 or 10,000 (when we do it in large stadiums) people at a time, but with this book, I want millions of more people to benefit from The Happionaire Way. I want them to know the biggest masterpiece in the world is their own life and all they need to do is take action.
I am living proof of what the power of dreams and action can do! If I can do it – anyone can!

Infibeam caught up with Dr Mukesh Jindal for a chat about his book "DREAM BIG" and the amazing response it has received. Let’s find out what he has to say about the experience with writing about this unconventional story-

1.Please let us know more about the book “Dream Big”

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- The Book ‘Dream Big’ is a social effort to help every Indian grow rich by making right investment decisions. The book teaches how to plan your finances today for a better and a more secured life tomorrow.
Every individual has a dream or an aspiration for a good life and everyone works hard towards it. Investments done in the right manner is the simplest and fastest way of growing rich and fulfilling all the dreams.

Everything, from the importance of saving and investing and the need for life and health insurance to various investment products like mutual funds, SIP, PPF etc. that can enable you to build wealth, is explained in this book in simple and jargon free language.

2. What inspired you to write the story of Vaibhav?

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- My clients in business are mostly affluent families who have regular savings to invest and are educated enough to understand the intricacies of investment options. But Vaibhav belonged to the lowest strata of the society, from the income point of view. He didn’t have much of the education either. The beauty in him was that he dreamt of a good life and ensured that he followed his dream till the time it got achieved. Vaibhav had patience to learn everything about investments and diligently implement all that he learnt. Eventually, his dream was fulfilled. Nobody better than him could have been the role model in this book.

3. What is your idea of “Dreaming Big”?

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- There is a popular belief that if you dream big and make efforts to achieve those dreams, the entire universe supports you to achieve your dreams. One should therefore always dream big for the betterment. Without dreaming, one has no goals and has nothing to achieve. New start-ups and enterprises get developed through big dreams which translate into their long term vision. The greatness achieved by some countries ultimately reflects the vision of their people.

DREAM BIG..

4. What kind of saving and investment mode you will suggest as Financial Analyst seeing the current market scenario?

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- The suggestion would be different for different people depending upon their age, income levels, savings rate, risk taking capacity, future requirements and the kind of life they would like to have for themselves. In general, the safest way for a beginner is to choose a few of the mutual fund schemes – equity or debt or a combination of both, based on the above aspects. The investment mode may be by SIP method, if there is a regular stream of income. Investments made when markets decline are considered to yield superior returns. Long term investments smoothen the impact of short term volatility in the equity market.

5. For youngsters those who have started earning, what kind of financial advice you will have for them?

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- The youngsters have a great future ahead. The basic principle of investment is ‘the early the better’. You start investing from today and not tomorrow, because that ‘tomorrow’ will never come. If a young earner, no matter what his income levels are, saves 25% of his income and starts investing in a regular way, he will be benefitted by the power of compounding and will have huge sums amassed in future. He can plan his entire life for all the future contingencies very comfortably.

6. What is next for you?

Dr. Mukesh Jindal- I am looking forward to interact with my readers and see their life transform for the better.

I am also working to provide an easy and simplified investment solution to people through the use of technology. ‘Roboadviso’ a mobile based investment application is a step in this direction.

‘50 Cups of Coffee’: Re-ignite Your Search For That Perfect Person!

Soul mates are made in heaven. *Conditions apply

In India, come a certain age and there’s nothing more important than finding the perfect groom (or bride). But often this ‘more-serious-than-a-space mission’ can leave you befuddled, exasperated or even amused. '50 Cups of Coffee’ is a hilarious and charming account of manoeuvring the minefield that is arranged-dating.

Khushnuma Daruwala

Khushnuma Daruwala, an advertising professional, has chosen to explore this in her first book - ‘50 Cups of Coffee’. Infibeam caught up with Khushnuma Daruwala for a chat about her book and the amazing response it has received. Let’s find out what she has to say about the experience with writing a coffee-guzzler Journey’ -

1. Can you let us know something more about your book - “50 Cups of Coffee”?

Khushnuma Daruwala: ‘50 Cups of Coffee’ happened purely by accident. It started over a conversation with one of my friends who was narrating her arranged-dating experiences. Tickled pink, I offered to write them and she agreed. Luckily I was on a sabbatical which gave me some head space to get the initial chapters and style, going.

This book is not a typical linear narrative and it’s definitely not a mush-fest. It’s simply a compilation of myriad experiences, musings, a few tricks, a few tips, a few flops and misgiving galore along the path to finding a man, all strung together with humour. Each chapter pertains to one facet of arranged-dating and ends with what we coined as a ‘java jolt’ – a witty musing which ties it all up.

2. What kind of experiences guided/helped you in writing- “50 Cups of Coffee”?

Khushnuma Daruwala: Apart from my friend who inspired the book and who I’ve retained as the protagonist I spoke to other women as well to get a better understanding of arranged-dating and their experiences. Discussing ideas on the book format and topics for the content really helped, as did reading books and articles on writing which another friend would regularly recommend.

On days I suffered from a writer's block I sought solace in my two funny-favourites – James Herriot and Gerald Durrell, for amusement and hopefully inspiration.

3. Your book is about the epiphanies with finding that right person (which we prefer calling ‘Mr/Ms. Perfect’). According to you, what role does movies and books play in shaping our perspective and desires about that ‘Perfect’ person?

Khushnuma Daruwala: I think our concept of Mr/ Ms Right or romance is a tad warped due to various influences – books, movies, stories among others.
50 Cups of Coffee

First come the fairy tales with their damsels in distress who need rescuing. Then comes ‘romance’ literature and movies which can often kill you with their deadly clichés – e.g. the Byronic hero (Brooding, intense and often unavailable men who might eventually soften in the presence their lady love) or the manic Pixie Dream Girl (Quirky, full of life, childlike playfulness and crazy antics which she will focus on the soulful, brooding hero until he learns to live freely and love madly again*). If you look closely some of the biggest romantic blockbusters are hinged on these two cliches.

4. If you are given an opportunity to add or edit a chapter to your book - 50 Cups of Coffee, what will it be?
Khushnuma Daruwala: Nothing to be honest. I ended the book when I ran out of topics to write. As for editing, well I did tone down a few things slightly to ensure no sensibilities were offended in my writing process. If I was writing only for myself I wouldn’t have done that.

5. What inspires you to keep going everyday? And, What is next for Ms. Khushnuma - the author? OR a new role?

Khushnuma Daruwala: Any creative process, be it writing a book or a paper or ideating on solutions for a brand, is what keeps me going. The fluidity and the absence of an absolute certainty is exciting.

Yes, I do have a few ideas for the next book. Most authors seem to build their forte in one genre, while all my ideas are completely disparate, targeting different audiences altogether. I think I need to flesh each one out a bit to see which holds up under scrutiny and has a distinctive point of view in that genre.

Who knows, it might simply be a sequel to ‘50 Cups of Coffee’.

“With the 51st Cup of Coffee in my hands, I am hoping the sequel comes out soon!”

Drama Teen- Parents’ Walk Through the Contours of Teenage!

“Impossible to understand. This is the best way to describe this generation.”- Parents.
“They don’t understand me at all.” - Teenagers.

More often than not, this is the skit that goes on loop, in the houses where the “Ghar ke Chirags” are teenaged kids. Ms. Lina with her new book- “Drama Teen” bridges this gap presenting the story from both the perspectives.

I dream of a society in which every child enjoys the right to a joyful childhood and top quality education. - Ms. Lina Ashar.

Lina Ashar
As a teacher, realizing the voids in the education system, Lina took it up as a challenge. Engaging children with imaginative and fun-filled teaching was her idea. This idea was certainly a radical thought, and one very new in the India of 90s. Well, who knew this idea will go on to paint the best picture of reality. Along with being a busy educationist, she has also been a successful author who has sought to guide the parents and teenagers time and again. The journey of the author Lina Ashar continues with her new book - “Drama Teen”. Here is an excerpt from the delightful conversation, I had with her:

1. Can you tell us something about your book - “Drama Teen”. How is it different from a normal parenting guide?

Lina Ashar - Most books address only one audience, the unique thing about this book is the format. For each topic I write to the parent and then the teen - giving them a chance to step into each other’s shoes and therefore bridge the generation gap. The process was initiated while I was counseling students to understand their own values and their parent’s values and negotiate their needs from that position. I got a lot of positive response from the students that it worked and helped them get what they want - but not at the cost of their relationship with their parents.

2. School and Curriculum plays a vital role in steering a teenager in right direction. What are your views regarding the system and curriculum in India? According to you, how the education sector of India needs to improve?

Lina Ashar - ‘I was born intelligent. The education system ruined me’ – Mark Twain’s famous quote is true for many educational systems around the world. Kids enter schools as curious and inquisitive creatures and leave the portals as unthinking, uncreative, and undemanding people. We teach children subjects in a lack lustre manner and in most cases they cannot join the dots, this makes them dislike going to school.

The 21st century skills that children need to encompass is collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and high level of accountability and display of ethical behaviour. We have to a great extent focus on integrated projects revolving around global themes.

3. Most of the engineering students think they did a mistake by joining engineering. Can this problem’s roots be found in teenage? When it comes to career-guidance, how should teachers and parents play their role?

Lina Ashar - Schools and Parents need to first recognize that there are careers and jobs beyond engineering and medicine. Studies have shown that Right Brain jobs that will be in demand in the coming years. A lot of these jobs don’t even exist today. We need to train children to survive in life and train them to build right habits of mind.

The top paying jobs today didn’t even exist 10 years back.

4. How do you explain pros and cons of excess of things like peer-pressure, social media, and rebellious attitude to a teenager? What is your advice to teenagers based on current times?

Lina Ashar - I always urge the teens that - when they really want to acquire a material possession, they need to find ways of earning the money. Build within themselves a spirit of enterprise. Mowing lawns, and delivering newspapers and milk seem to be a thing of the past, but find ways to do chores over and above the normal household duties for a financial reward.

Our education system is already set up to provide the hard skills, they need to go through life. However, they also need values such as self-esteem and confidence. Necessity is the mother of invention, so they have to think about ways in which they can invent.
5. Impact of Movies on our society is well known. And, teenagers can get very easily
intimidated by movies. What is your view regarding it? What is the way out from the p.o.v of students as well as parents?

Lina Ashar - Often movies unknowingly impact children in a sub conscious manner. They propagate violence, eve teasing, sexual vulgarity etc. The best way to combat this is enforce positivity in children, every time a parent notices such messages being given out, the parent should discuss with the child, this is what the hero should have done, violence has repercussions etc...

This will help make the child aware of the subtle messages and build a positive image.

6. Being an educationist, you have been around these things for major part of your life. What are some lessons that you have learnt from teenagers?

Lina Ashar - Reward and risk often go hand in hand.
Unconditional love is a must.
Practice what you preach - or walk the talk

7. If you think about adding one more dimension or one more chapter to your book- Drama Teen, what will it be about?

One of the aspects that I would have loved to add is the Importance of the stories that we hear, In fact this is now going to be my third book. Stories we hear form the basis of our subconscious programs, therefore beliefs, actions and decisions. Brain chatter or stories we tell ourselves form the basis of the outcome of our lives.

The Third one sounds interesting already!
